Alva L. Houser, 89, of Mill Hall passed away Thursday, January 2, 2020 at her home.
Born August 26, 1930 in Mill Hall, she was a daughter of the late Ira and Grace Stevenson Fravel.
On January 7, 1950, she married her love, Richard L. Houser, Sr., with whom she shared nearly 70 years of marriage.
Alva enjoyed going to yardsales and playing cards. Most important to her, though, was spending time with her family.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons: Richard (Trudy) Houser, Jr., Thomas E. (Karen) Houser and Harry S. (Pam) Houser, all of Mill Hall; two daughters, Vickie Cross (Ron Laubscher) of Avis and Betty A. (Douglas) Lamey of Flemington; a brother, Ken Fravel of Lock Haven; a sister, Sara Fravel of Woolrich; 11 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; and 7 great, great grandchildren with one more on the way.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Alverdia Laubach and Connie Weaver; three brothers: Melvin, Harold, Donald and Elmer Fravel; and a half-sister, Esther Lannen.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at 11 a.m. at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington. Interment will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Mill Hall.
Friends and family will be received at the funeral home on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
