Alva N. Saxton, Jr., 58, of Lock Haven passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at The Gatehouse of Divine Providence Hospital.
Born May 1, 1960 in Lock Haven, he was the son of the late Alva N. Saxton, Sr. and Eleanor Jane Cycak Saxton.
After graduating from Lock Haven High School, Jr. began his career as a correctional officer at the former Clinton County Jail and then the now Clinton County Correctional Facility, working there for over twenty years.
On August 31, 1985 he married the love of his life, the former Becky Kurtz.
As a youngster, Jr. attended church with his family at the Salvation Army.
Jr. was an avid pool and dart player as well as a successful bowler and card player. He enjoyed visiting casinos, sitting around the fire and cheering on the New York Jets and Nittany Lions. Above all, Jr. cherished the time he spent with his family.
In addition to his wife, Becky Saxton of Lock Haven, he is survived by many cousins including Bill (Sharon) Smith who he was very close to as well as several nieces and nephews that were special to him.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Marlin “Bud” Kurtz and mother-in-law, Judith Eileen Kurtz.
A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, January 13, 2019 at 12 Noon at United Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1 E. Church St., Lock Haven. Please enter through side door.
