Charles P. Kuntz, QMC (SS) USN Retired passed away Saturday, December 29, 2018.
Born in Lock Haven on December 8, 1925, he was the son of the late Ray E. and Marian I. Shaffer Kuntz.
Charles was married to his beloved wife, the former Florence L. Kline, for 62 years before her passing on October 1, 2015.
He served in the United States Navy for 20 years, from 1943 until 1963. Charles served in combat in WWII as well as the Korean War. He then served on Submarine Patrols during the Vietnam War, earning 14 Medals and Ribbons.
After retiring from the Navy in 1963, he went to work at the Submarine Shipyard in Groton, Conn., earning the title of Senior Supervisor of Engineering Configuration Management, retiring in 1981.
He and his beloved wife returned to this area in 1982, making their home in Beech Creek.
Charles was a life member of the Beech Creek American Legion, VFW, NRA, Sub Vets and Fleet Reserve.
Surviving are three brothers: Raymond, Richard and Jack Kuntz; two sisters, Mary Pat Zimmerman and Rita Clark; a special niece, Patricia Mantle, and two great nieces who cared for him, Lana Sachetti and Lisa Bolopue; and many more nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers: Paul, Edward and William Kuntz and three sisters: Beryl Ingui, Josephine Dozier and Barbara Barzona.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at 12 Noon at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington. Friends and family will be received at the funeral home on Thursday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
Burial with Military Honors will take place at St. Agnes Cemetery on Monday, January 7, 2019 at 10 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Charles’ name may be made to either the Clinton County S.P.C.A. or Clinton County Veteran’s Administration.
