Emma C. Shortledge, 90, of Woods Ave., Flemington, passed away Saturday, June 1, 2019 at The Gatehouse Hospice of Williamsport.
Emma was born in Lock Haven on January 18, 1929, the daughter of the late Lewis and Julia Decker Zimmerman.
She was a 1947 graduate of Lock Haven High School.
On April 4, 1948, she married Thomas E. Shortledge, who preceded her in death September 16, 2011.
Emma retired from St. Luke’s United Church of Christ of Lock Haven after her many years of service as church secretary.
She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Parish of Lock Haven where she attended St. Agnes Catholic Church and a member of the Lock Haven Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution.
In her leisure time, Emma enjoyed researching her and her husband’s family genealogy.
She is survived by three children, Charles L. (Kathryn) Shortledge of Nevada, Thomas J. (Cathy) Shortledge of Lock Haven and Jonathan C. (Gail) Shortledge of Maryland; a brother, David (Martha) Zimmerman of South Carolina; six grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by eight siblings.
Per Emma’s wishes, private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to The Gatehouse Hospice.
