Hilda D. Blyler, 83, of Lock Haven, PA was Promoted to Glory in the early morning hours of Sunday, July 7, 2019, no doubt to get a good seat at her first church service in heaven!
Born February 8, 1936 in Bremervörde, Germany, she was the daughter of the late Otto & Anna Wilkens Reineward.
Having decided to follow Jesus, she gave almost 40 years of service and devotion to God through her church, The Salvation Army, volunteering for over 20 years at the downtown Thrift Store, teaching Sunday School and VBS, ringing the bell at the familiar red kettle stands at Christmastime and visiting the sick and shut-in at Susqueview Nursing Home, which would eventually become her temporary home for the last 3½ years.
She is survived by her son, J. Christopher Blyler of Lock Haven, a granddaughter, Abigail Blyler of Portland, Maine, and a brother, Otto (Gisela) Reineward of Bremervörde, Germany. She also has two special “adopted” grandchildren, Brock Smith and Jennifer Greene.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at 2 P.M. at The Salvation Army of Lock Haven, 119 E. Church St., with Major Ronald Lugiano officiating.
Friends and family will be received at the church on Friday from 6 until 8 P.M. and again on Saturday from 1 P.M. until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Lock Haven Salvation Army in Hilda’s name.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Moriarty Funeral Home & Crematory, 112 E. Church St., Lock Haven, Pa 17745.
