Jack Herr Obituary
Jack M. Herr, Jr., “The Ol Timer”, 72, of Beech Creek, passed away Saturday, January 26, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born in Lock Haven on January 28, 1946, the son of the late Jack M., Sr. and Dorothy Merrill Herr.
Jack was a 1964 graduate of Lock Haven High School.
On September 1, 1978 at the East Main Street United Methodist Church, Lock Haven, he married his true love and soulmate former Brenda L. Andrus, whom survives.
Jack was employed as a heavy equipment operator for Confer Coal Company and Bald Eagle Township before retiring from Charles Construction in 2010. He also was part-owner of Bobby’s Place in Beech Creek during the 1990’s.
Jack was an outdoor enthusiast – especially enjoying camping, mountain rides, hunting and fishing, kayaking and hiking. He was talented at cooking and took pride in preparing daily meals for his family. Beyond all, Jack cherished his time spent with his family. His kind, big-hearted presence will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by six children, Jack M. (Michelle) Herr, III of Lykens, Colette Weaver of Lock Haven, Forrest (Erin) Herr of Bellefonte, Shannon Herr of Sherman Oaks, CA, Tracey (Jason) Showers-Spangler of Lock Haven and Brian (Chris) Showers of Mill Hall; his sister, Karen Settle of Bellefonte; and 13 grandchildren: Trevor, Dawson and Mason Herr, Hunter (Kayla) and Colton Weaver, Devon and Lainey Yarnell, Owen, Abby and Ella Herr, Zane Showers, and Colton and Kelsey Spangler.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, James Settle.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at the Blanchard Church of Christ, 169 Beach Street, Blanchard, PA 16826 with Rev. Russell Moldovan officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the American Cancer Society for pancreatic cancer research.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington, PA 17745.
