Joan M. Probst, 86, of Lock Haven, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family and her beloved cat, Josie, on Nov. 11, 2019.

In her early years, she was employed by Derr’s Stationary and the Dipsy Doodle. Later, she worked for Bobbie Brooks followed by Woolrich Woolen Mills (located in Woolrich) in the finishing department until her retirement.

Joan loved spending time with her family, friends and best friend Nancy Allen, sitting on her front porch during warm weather and going for rides in the mountains. She enjoyed coloring, doing crossword and word search puzzles. She loved to play Scrabble. She was also known for her cherry wink Christmas cookies, her pudding-filled angel food cakes and her Texas sheet cakes.

Joan is survived by her daughter, Karen L. Probst (Angelo Caprio) of Lock Haven; two grandchildren, Heather Barnard of Lock Haven and D.J. Barnard (Danielle Miller) of Loganton; two step-grandchildren; Misty (Dan) Martin of Lock Haven and Jordan Caprio of Beech Creek; two great grandchildren, Gage (Tess) Barnard stationed in Fort Bliss, Texas and Marissa Barnard of Loganton; two step great grandchildren, Alexis and Dominic Martin of Lock Haven; her sister Lois McClelland of Williamsport; two nieces, Barbara (Bruce) Loner and family of South Williamsport and Patti McClelland of Williamsport; three brothers-in-law, Robert (Carole) Probst of Lock Haven, Richard Probst of Rutland, Vt., and Donald Probst of Lock Haven.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Phyllis Johnson.

The family and friends of Joan would like to express their heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to the UPMC hospice care team including Courtney, Kim, Laurel, Amber, Heidi and Pastor Zelma. Thank you all so much for everything.
