John Perry Cryder, 86, of Lock Haven, passed away Saturday, November 9, 2019 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
He was born in Lock Haven on November 28, 1932, the son of the late Orvis and Beatrice Farley Cryder.
John was a 1950 graduate of Lock Haven High School.
On April 11, 1952, he married the former Helen Emrick who preceded him in death on September 12, 2011.
John served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1953 through 1955.
Following his return home from military service, he worked at Woolrich Woolen Mills for a short time before his employment at Piper Aircraft until its closing in 1983. John then worked at Brodart of Williamsport until his retirement in 1997.
He was a past member of the Pine Creek Grange. As a third generation farmer, his farm was the love and passion of his life.
John was survived by three children: Cindy Walker, Joni (Barry) Bliler, Terry (Connie) Cryder; seven grandchildren: Jaime (Scott) Frazier, Lindsey (Steve) Collins, Alyson Bliler, Kaitlin (Josh) Cryder, Hillary Bliler, Sara (Jake) Flook, and Megan (Cole) Wheeler; and ten great grandchildren: Caleb, Mackenzie, Addison, J’smier, Rowan, Kingston, Ethan, Piper, Noah and Jonathon.
A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at 1 P.M. at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington, PA 17745 with Pastor Ron Savits officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Woolrich Cemetery.
Friends and family will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday from 12 P.M. until the time of the service.
Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Lycoming County Korean War Veteran’s.
