Mary Lachat Obituary
Mary Katherine Lachat, 94, of McElhattan passed away Sunday, November 10, 2019 at The Gatehouse of Divine Providence Hospital.
Born July 30, 1925 in Lock Haven, she was the daughter of the late Milford and Emma Shroat Krape.
On September 5, 1943 she married Robert D. Lachat with whom she shared 70 years of marriage before his passing in 2014.
Mary was employed at Sylvania followed by Piper Aircraft. She then worked at Bloomsburg Silk Mill for 20 years before working at West Company until her retirement in 1987.
She was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, attending St. Agnes Catholic Church.
Mary enjoyed gardening and traveling. She also loved cats, whether it be collecting kitty figurines or spending time with her special cat, Teddy.
She was always on the go, cleaning and keeping her house spotless.
Mary cherished the holidays, especially Christmas Eve, when her family would visit together.
Surviving are two daughters, Theresa A. Sample and Eileen J. Young, both of McElhattan; a son, Robert J. Lachat of Lock Haven; her granddaughter, Lisa Bangson; six grandsons: Chris Lachat, Bob Gill, Adam Young, Scott Young, Eddie Young and Paul Sample; numerous great grandchildren; and a great, great grandchild.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, William Krape.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at 6 P.M. at the Moriarty Funeral Home & Crematory, 112 E. Church St., Lock Haven. Burial will take place at St. Agnes Cemetery.
Friends and family will be received at the funeral home Thursday from 5 P.M. until the time of the service.
Because of her love for animals, memorial contributions in Mary’s name may be made to the Clinton County S.P.C.A. through the funeral home.
