Robert Wise Obituary

Robert Clyde Wise, D.C., passed away peacefully at Susque View on Wednesday, December 5, 2018. Born in Lock Haven on December 22, 1935, Dr. Wise was a lifelong resident of Lock Haven, spending his winters in Stuart, Florida during his retirement years. He was a graduate of Lock Haven High School in 1953 and joined the Marines in the fall of 1953. Following his service years, he matriculated to the Palmer School of Chiropractic. He graduated in 1960 and served the central Pennsylvania area as a chiropractor for over 40 years. Dr. Wise was best known for his caring and compassionate professionalism and selflessly was available to treat emergency cases no matter what the time of day.

Known to his friends as Bob, he was a member of the 1948 Little League World Series team where he was the starting shortstop. He and his fellow players have been honored numerous times by various local and state agencies.

He was united in marriage to the former Mary Elizabeth Clancy on March 3, 1961. The have enjoyed over 56 years together. Often overshadowed by his incessant drive, she was the glue that held everything together.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles “Pat” Wise; his mother, Faye Yoxheimer Speck; his Grammy Yoxheimer; his son, Sean Edward Wise; and his grandson, Robert “Bobby” Wise, III.

Dr. Wise is survived by his wife, Mary Clancy Wise; three children, Robert Clyde Wise, II, Von (Darla) Patrick Wise, and Maggie (Jonathan) Ann Hope; and a sister, Donna Rae Wise. Affectionately known as “Pop,” he leaves behind five grandchildren: Sierra Bertanzetti, Von P. Wise, II, Luke Wise, Jon Augusta Wise, and Stone Brush.

Beyond his chiropractic vocation, Doc prided himself as a businessman and entrepreneur. He filled his life with many projects and no matter what he did, he flavored his endeavors with a degree of excellence. When he couldn’t find anything else to do, he mowed grass – he loved to mow grass.

Bob loved dogs and always had either a Weimaraner or German Short-hair as a companion.

Bob was a member of the Keystone 80 Hunting Club where he enjoyed hunting and fellowship with his good friends. Additionally, he belonged to the Holy Spirt Parish, Clinton Country Club, Elks Club, VFW and the Pennsylvania Chiropractic Association.
