David Arthur Steiger, 81, of Avis, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 3, 2021.
Born Jan. 17, 1940, in Williamsport, he was the son of Arthur and Emmaline Steiger and stepmother Pearl Steiger.
On March 17, 1962 he married the former Gladys Heverly who survives.
David served his country in the United States Army from 1959 to 1964. Early in life he was a stone mason before working in the inside maintenance department of Woolrich until his retirement.
He was a life member of the American Legion Post 284 in Avis.
David enjoyed working with his hands, whether it was woodworking in his shed, welding or fixing broken objects. He never missed a sporting event for his grandkids or great grandkids whether a ball game or dance recital and loved reading on his front porch swing. He also liked taking trips out to the family's cabin.
He is survived by his wife; four children, Douglas (Michelle) Steiger, Cathy (Greg) Marr, Gayle (Kevin) Jameson and Jen (Tim) Crawford; a sister Marion Vogler; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceeded in death by his mother, father and stepmother; a sister Ginny Rich and a granddaughter.
David was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend to many.
Services will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2021 at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, 231 High St., Flemington, Pa.
