Doris M. (Haagen) Bitner

Doris M. (Haagen) Bitner, 85, of Lock Haven, passed away Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at home.
Born October 12, 1935 in Jersey Shore, she was the daughter of the late Norman Heimer and Iva Haagen Mantle.
Doris was employed at Bobby Brooks before working for Hammermill Paper Company for several years until her retirement. She had also served as a waitress at the Village Tavern restaurant.
She was a member of the Lock Haven American Legion Auxiliary.
Doris enjoyed crocheting and playing bingo at local fire halls. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. During her later years when she resided with her daughter, Sharon, Doris became very close with Sharon's dog's, especially Dottie, Bella, Ocean and Patch.
She is survived by four children, Sharon (Roger) Nixon, Kim (Nick) Verne and Danny (Susan) Conway, all of Lock Haven, and Gary (Regina) Conway of Georgia; a brother, Charlie (Rita Ruhl) Heimer of Lock Haven; ten grandchildren: Heather and Johnny Nixon, Michele and Tony Verne, Tami, Danny "DJ", Jr., and Kaitlyn Conway, and Alycia, Melissa and Brandon; sixteen great grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, October 11, 2021 at 4 P.M. at the McElhattan Fire Hall, 317 Linnwood Drive, Lock Haven, PA 17745.
Friends and family will be received for a time of visitation on Monday from 2 P.M. until the time of the service.
Private burial will take place at a later time at Dunnstown Cemetery, Lock Haven.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lock Haven Salvation Army, 119 E. Church St., Lock Haven, PA 17745.
