Scot Sampsell Obituary

We sadly announce the passing of Scot F. Sampsell on January 10, 2022.
Scot was born April 28, 1961, in Lock Haven, PA. He spent his youth in lower Lock Haven, attended Lock Haven Consolidated Catholic Elementary School, graduating from Lock Haven High School and later spent 6 years in the United States Army. He spent 2 years in Germany during his enlistment, which added to the many memories he carried, and gladly shared, of being a soldier. Upon his discharge, he briefly joined his brothers living in Colorado. During that time, it became quite apparent that Scot's heart never left Lock Haven. He returned to his home town permanently.
Scot worked at various jobs in the Lock Haven area, but was best remembered for the many years he spent with First Quality Products, where he developed a multitude of friendships.
Scot was preceded in death by his parents, Paul F. and Mary Z. "Sarge" (Coira) Sampsell.
He is survived by his brothers, Eric Sampsell (Aurora, CO) and Paul C. Sampsell (Lock Haven). Also surviving is his step-son, Steven Guerriero II (Lindsay), with whom he maintained a very close relationship, and Steven's children: Autumn, Addie and Hannah, to whom Scot was "Pop-Pop." Scot was also known to several nephews, as well as numerous younger members of his extended family, as "Uncle Scot." Special mention should be made of one of these unofficial nieces, Katelyn Traxler, who was at his bedside at the time of his passing.
Some of Scot's interests over the years were typical of a Clinton County resident. He hunted and fished, though he often remarked that after his time in the Army, he no longer enjoyed camping. He was a firearms enthusiast and also enjoyed sharpening knives and scissors, which he later made into a casual profession. Above these things, though, Scot was a world class tinkerer. He spent any time he could repairing anything small and intricate. His greatest pleasure may well have actually been his time in the role of Pop-Pop. Nothing brought a smile to Scot's face as much as interacting with the children in his family.
The family would like to also mention two of Scot's closet friends, that after Scot suffered a stroke a few years ago, proved their devotion and steadfastness to him, John White and Gio Montarsi.
No services or ceremonies are planned at this time. A remembrance gathering will take place at a later time for his family and closest friends, when they can be assembled.
Memorial contributions to the SPCA in Scot's name would be welcome.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Moriarty Funeral Home & Crematory, 112 E. Church St., Lock Haven, Pa 17745.
