Wava Karichner Obituary

Wava D. Karichner, 81, of Lock Haven passed away at her home on Sunday, May 8, 2022 surrounded by her family.
Born October 31, 1940 on the family farm in Howard, she was a daughter of the late Boyd and Verna Dullen Butler.
Wava was a 1959 graduate of Lock Haven High School.
On February 18, 1960, she married her love, Joseph L. Karichner, with whom she shared 62 years of marriage.
Wava spent her life loving and raising her family. She retired from Lock Haven Hospital where she was a housekeeper.
She was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, attending St. Agnes Catholic Church.
Wava and her husband, Joe, were members of the Winnebago Club and enjoyed many trips in their motorhome.
She enjoyed baking and made the most delicious pies.
Most important to her was time spent with her family and friends. She also loved children and was often found babysitting for those she knew.
In addition to her husband, Joseph Karichner of Lock Haven, she is survived by her children: Karen Karichner Walker of Lamar, Larry Karichner of Avis and Kelley (George) Karichner Roller of Lock Haven; two sisters, Renee Brown of Bellefonte and Lynn (Wayne) Bitner of Mill Hall; two grandchildren, Alexander and Collin Roller; a great grandson, Lincoln Roller; and many wonderful friends including her best friend from Junior High who has always been by her side, Betty Shady of Lock Haven.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers: Arnie, Clarence and Dennis Butler.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, May 12, 2022 at 11 A.M. at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 3 E. Walnut St., Lock Haven with Rev. Father Joseph Orr officiating. Interment at Schenck's Cemetery, Howard will follow.
Friends and family will be received on Wednesday from 6 until 8 P.M. at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington.
Memorial contributions in Wava's name may be made to the Clinton County SPCA through the funeral home.
